HAEMODYNAMIC EFFECTS OF DIAZEPAM USED AS A SEDATIVE FOR ORAL SURGERY

J. L. JENKINSON, W. R. MACRAE, D. B. SCOTT and J. F. GOULD

Measurements of cardiac output, arterial pressure, central venous pressure, heart rate, stroke volume and peripheral resistance were made before and after the intravenous administration of diazepam prior to oral surgery. Cardiac output and stroke volume were significantly reduced while heart rate and peripheral resistance were significantly increased following diazepam.
