AN INTRAVENOUS METHOD OF ANAESTHESIA FOR CAESAREAN SECTION. PART III: ALTHESIN

Althesin was used at two dose levels for anaesthesia for Caesarean section in a series of 85 patients. The lower dose range appeared to be better tolerated by the infants, the higher dose range being associated with an unacceptable degree of neonatal depression. The incidence of postoperative sequelae is presented. The drug was well accepted by the mothers and appears worthy of further trial using an even lower dosage than in this series.
