THE PLACENTAL TRANSFER OF PANCURONIUM BROMIDE
University Department of Anaesthetics, Glasgow Royal Infirmary and Royal Maternity Hospital, Glasgow, Scotland
Organon Laboratories Ltd, Newhouse, Lanarkshire, Scotland.
A study has been undertaken to determine the extent to which pancuronium bromide crosses the placental membrane. After rapid intravenous injection of the drug in a mean dose of 0.08 mg/kg to the mother, the drug was detected in neonatal urine in 11 of 20 patients in varying concentrations. None of the infants showed clinical evidence of myoneural blockade.
