APPLICATION OF AN END-EXPIRATORY PRESSURE IN THE MANAGEMENT OF THREE CASES OF PULMONARY OEDEMA
Department of Anaesthetics, Royal Postgraduate Medical School and Hammersmith Hospital DuCane Road, London W12 OHS
Three patients with pulmonary oedema are described, in which the application of an end-expiratory pressure during LPPV resulted in an improvement in oxygenarion. It is suggested that provided there is no effect on the cardiovascular system during such a manoeuvre, it may be the only means by which acceptable arterial oxygen tensions can be attained
